The day started well, with me rising at 6 am and getting out of the house by 7, headed for Durango. There, I delivered a package I'd agreed to deliver and stopped by the health food store for some psyllium husks and some multivitamins.

I also stopped by the Rite-Aid to get some lipolysis testing strips, being curious as to whether and how strongly my metabolism is burning fat on this, my third day of Induction to the Atkins diet. According to Atkins' book, my body should be just about running out of glycogen, which should cause it to start burning fat for energy. Much of the rest of Atkins' book contains ideas I'd been exposed to over the years, e.g., the negative role of refined carbs, etc.

Finally, I stopped at the Office Depot to get some things that the store needs, but then left one of the two bags of resulting stuff at the store (muddlehead!), not realizing until fairly late in the afternoon that I'd done so. The local Durango courier service will bring the missing bag tomorrow.

A walk "around the block" has helped me rack up a distance a few feet short of 15000 steps for the day. I felt good during the walk, and even managed to walk up our driveway without feeling the need to pause for a minute or so. I really need to dig up the copy of the Prevention magazine article and check on the numbers, because it would appear that accumulating 10-12 thousand steps over the course of a day (especially one that includes a stint at the shop) is not all that difficult. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you.)

No news on the translation front, which is not to say I'm paranoid about the lack of work or that I don't have anything to do: there's the dictionary review (long overdue), the grading test, and a couple of translations to edit. I should also probably sort through all the stuff I brought back from the conference and assimilate what needs assimilating.

Dinner today was at the kids' place, after returning the rental car. I had bought some ribeye steaks on the way home, and Drew grilled them to perfection. Together with some salad (heavy on the iceberg lettuce), it made what would appear to be an ideal Atkins Induction dinner for me.

Huntur seems pretty much over her bronchitis, which was confirmed when Shannon said the child would be going to school tomorrow. The tyke's social schedule includes a reunion with her old pal, Savannah, on Saturday, and Drew plans to strap the kid's feet into a snowboard on Sunday, assuming he feels up to it after last weekend's paintball exertions.

Time to wind down.

Cheers...
