Only somewhat behind...
Apr. 4th, 2004 09:07 pmDrew called somewhere near the first thing in the morning. It turns out that babysitting Huntur was delegated to Shannon's mom today. It was something of a disappointment, but it's not like the kids live on the other side of the world.
I dropped by the second day of the annual local "Home Show" at the county fairgrounds. Just about every bank and mortgage lender was in evidence, along with hardware stores, the local utilities, and oh... some people selling stuff for the house. I ran into a few people I knew and several people who knew me from the store (but whom I did not recognize, regrettably).
The major upshot of the visit was getting registered for a handful of giveaways sponsored by various exhibitors and coming home with a bag full of literature (virtually all the candidates for the local health district board were there) and baubles (a rain gauge from the water utility, packages of seeds, carpenter's pencils, and a couple of yardsticks from other exhibitors) and I also found out about some products that are just what the doctor ordered to help make this property a little prettier. Now all I need is time and money, both of which are in short supply.
I finished the aerospace assignment and started the BJF, in between bouts of vacuuming and mopping the place, which continues to look better and better with every passing day. It turns out that these "cleanup" breaks help energize me to go back to work on translations. It is, however, way too early to wonder what I'll do once the place is spic-and-span clean. :^)
The BJF consists of 60 pages, the last 12 of which comprise a number of appendices with illustrations (of container labels, etc.). If I do 12 pages per day, I'll be finished by Friday COB. So far in this job (the document sent Friday and the BJF) the database of aligned text from the client's reference material doesn't seem to be very germane, which makes me wonder why I was asked to review it. Maybe tomorrow, that'll change.
In the meantime, I think I'm going to get some early sleep.
Cheers...
