Ups and downs...
May. 15th, 2004 07:39 pmAfter lunch, I watched XXX, with Vin Diesel. It was an entertaining film that was sure not to strum those sentimental strings in my heart, though upon first glance, the title is not exactly something I'd have picked from a list (such as the one at the front desk downstairs, featuring both US and French titles).
I then got a call about two hours ago, telling me to get ready to support the resolution of a comm problem that has been the bane of everyone's life for the past couple of days. As someone who has had to track down and kill such bugs at one time, I can tell you that there are few things in life more frustrating than to have to figure out where, in a complex system of hardware and software, a problem might lie.
In any event, just minutes ago, a second call came through announcing that the problem has been fixed, and that my services would not be needed. (This is a Good Thing™, as yesterday's debugging session kept folks up until the wee hours.) I can keep my fingers crossed that this dragon is well and truly dead, since there's going to be enough to do around here in the next few weeks without having to camp out in the bowels of the полтинник.
Cheers...
