A glance at what mapquest.com hath wrought (having been asked directions from Pagosa to my hotel in Toronto) hints that my time en route will be almost 30 hours. I plan to ride 12 hours per day on Monday and Tuesday, which should leave a cakewalk of 6 hours for Wednesday, placing me in front of my hotel in plenty of time to check in, freshen up, and show up for the opening festivities at the ATA conference.

The last time I drove such a trek was about a decade ago, from New York to Colorado. I shall reprise that trip in a couple of weeks, having driven from Toronto to Long Island. The road from Buffalo to New York is familiar to me; I used to drive it to attend my USMC(R) meetings in New York.

It is a good thing that the translation is due the 15th, as I have not been able to get to it today. Drew did eventually show up to fix the sound system and change the oil, but all of that took longer than expected. And despite having insisted that he take home a salmon filet to help empty my larder, I found myself with both a tuna steak and some catfish in the fridge, and not enough time to eat all of it.

So I just had the tuna, cooked with some Cajun spices and cheese and a sprinkling of bacon on top. I cooked the catfish, too, and intend to take it with me on the road, or eat it for breakfast.

So what is left on my to-do list?

Not a heck of a lot. I need to make a selection of CDs that I might want to listen to on the road to Toronto, and I need some files from the store, which I may just grab on my way out of town tomorrow morning.

Oh, and I need to pack, and charge my Palm and my cell phone. And get a good night's sleep.

Cheers...
