I got the word from the office this morning that they found someone to work my New Year's Eve shift. That's great news. While it does mean I'll have to forego some cash flow (one day's worth) next month, it also means I'll be able to hit the road early in the morning on Monday, which means I'll be able to get to Colorado sometime mid-day on Tuesday.

Now, all that remains is to pack everything, and if I can get the rest of this stuff boxed away tonight and tomorrow night, then there is a distinct possibility that the truck will be loaded on Saturday night and Sunday morning. That would leave the rest of Sunday for last-minute purchases and arrangements, maybe even for starting the trip (though I wouldn't plan to drive too far into the evening...police or no, there is likely to be an unholy concentration of alcohol-besotted idiots on the road that night).

The place doesn't look any different from what it looked like a couple of nights ago, despite my having packed at least a dozen boxes. I seem to be tapping an infinite stream of things in my closet, but I think I'm coming to the end of that vein.

I'm going to have to give some serious thought to packing my computers. And to how they're going to be reconnected in Pagosa.

I also have to start a punch list of things to do, things not to forget, and anything else that occurs to me before I leave.

Gotta go get cracking.!

Cheers...

It never ceases to amaze me how efficiently an engineer can pack stuff into a closet or cubbyhole. And how the contents of one small closet, when unloaded, can fill the entire room.

I dread the thought of moving and trying to deal with almost 30 years of accumulated stuff. I'm seriously toying with the thought of holding an insurance fire ;)

I don't know...I've never consciously tried to optimize storage space...well...not much anyway. :^)

The room doesn't seem to have changed much since my last post, but it...feels...different. More empty. Maybe it's just the feeling that it's taking me longer to decide how to fill the next box.

Having made 4 long-distance moves and a number of local moves over the years, moving doesn't faze me, except for the inherent bother of having everything go into boxes, onto a truck, and then back out again. I think it's a matter of exposure.

Cheers...

For me it really isn't the move, per se. It's more having to deal with all the crap. Maybe it's that I hate having to make all those small decisions ;)
