Where has the day gone?

alexpgpFeht and I have exchanged several phone calls and emails about the job we're doing, and I finished proofreading and aligning the files he sent me overnight. Most of the issues have been resolved, so I plan to "overdeliver" the product tomorrow morning (the original due date was COB Friday, which I extended to first thing Monday, to be on the safe side).
The work on that assignment had to wait while I negotiated on a 10,000 source word project due Monday morning. I ended up not getting it, which is probably all for the better, as the file to be translated apparently comprises all the "unknown" segments of a document that had been analyzed by Trados. The result is a collection of sentences and sentence fragments shorn of context. That and the offered payment lay on the "con" side of the balance sheet. The fact that the assignment would come with a TM and access to a glossary - not to mention being an assignment - sat on the "pro" side.
Ah, well. In the end, I did not get the job, but I think I may have left a good impression with the potential client.
* * * Joel Osteen is the pastor at the Lakewood Church in Houston, and I suppose by definition he falls into the category of tele-evangelist, as his preaching is televised, but in my view, that's a superficial classification. Osteen doesn't interpret recent news events, doesn't attempt prophecy, doesn't heal the sick, doesn't try to put us all in fear of a wrathful, vengeful God, doesn't solicit contributions (at least, IMO, not in an in-your-face manner). Instead, he is a proponent of positive thinking who refers to the Bible in the course of his sermons simply, it seems, to reinforce a very life-affirming message. (I don't think I've so much as heard him refer to anyone in the audience as a "sinner.")
Long-time readers of my scribblings will know that I am not one to talk much about religion or spout Biblical citations on 16-inch centers, but I freely admit that by focusing today on aspects of what he said last night, I have - for today at least - kept at bay the pangs of depression regarding Life In General™ that have occupied my mind recently.
