About halfway through the morning, Drew added one more sign to the front door, a message that said in large, bold letters "DO NOT READ!" with arrows pointing to surrounding signs announcing that today was Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and that the post office aspect of our store was not operating. In all there were six signs - two on the front door, one in the front window, one on the pile of USPS supplies, and one each at both customer windows - announcing the fact that no postage or post office business would be conducted today.

If I had a nickel for every person who negotiated the minefield and asked for stamps, or money orders, or to certify a letter, I could take Galina and the kids out for a very nice, expensive dinner. As it turns out, Galina and I are going over to the kids' new place in a few minutes. (I never got a chance to see it upon my return from Baikonur, so fast did I take off for my parents' place.)

Updating Fedora Core 3 has been interesting. The new machine suffered a power interruption sometime early this afternoon, so it took a little time to get it back on track. The update is about 2/3 downloaded as I type. Hopefully, it'll be finished by the time we get back from the kids' place.

Cheers...
