DSL moved...
Oct. 17th, 2005 08:31 pmThis post demonstrates that the DSL modem has been successfully moved. Unfortunately, now my desktop insists on detecting a Plug and Play error "most likely caused by a faulty driver," causing the machine to simply STOP immediately after I enter my login password.
Farblegarg.
What's really annoying is that I've not added any new hardware to the machine.
Moreover, every time I reboot (by hitting the reset switch, since nothing else works) a different set of files are flagged as invalid, etc. during the disk check.
These first minutes of having a troublesome noisy beast in the next room (it's downright unreal to be sitting in such a quiet environment) are causing me to experience the down side of having a machine next door. Ah, well. Better now than later, and I can expect a whole lotta silence in the long run.
Cheers...
P.S. My desktop appears to have gotten past the login. Indeed, it's loading my browser's home page!
