I hadn't noticed this before...
Jan. 11th, 2007 12:26 pmThe User Guide that came with my SanDisk 1-GB memory stick has the following to say about disposing of the device:
Why-native-English-speakers-suck-at-translating-into-Russian Dept. The original English read: "The airport is open only to military traffic." The original translation read: "Аэродром открыт только к военному воздушному движению."
Ugh. Literal, and probably workable if uttered orally. The rules for speech are not as strict as they are for written text. After editing the text reads: "Аэродром открыт только для приема военных самолетов."
Much better.
Cheers...
Do not dispose of this device with unsorted household waste. Improper disposal may be harmful to the environment and human health.Weasel words, or a real warning? Hmmm.

and
Airfield is opened only for the method of the military aircraft.
Since the second one makes less sense and since Babelfish Russian to English translations seldom make sense, I figure the second one must be the best one ;)
