Again, explain to me why one would want a native French-speaker to proofread the English text of something translated from French into English? (I just saw something of the sort on ProZ).

* * *
Galina sang out to me yesterday afternoon to come join her in the living room and watch the Oprah Winfrey show. It turns out that the bits and pieces of a cross-country car trip taken last year by Oprah Winfrey and company had finally been edited together and began to be telecast yesterday.

The reason said telecast would be of interest to folks like Galina and me is that Oprah's route took her through the Four Corners region, and right through Pagosa Springs.

I didn't pay much attention at the time, but Oprah's visit took place somewhere short of a year ago. I do recall it caused a blip in the local grapevine, with The Sun publishing a picture showing Winfrey visiting with a young woman who had written a letter to the show.

One thing I'll note is that I hope someday to be able to record a travelogue of the quality that was created for this trip, including a number of nice aerial images. (Of course, I'll probably have to hire the kind of crew - something like a dozen people - that does this kind of work professionally.) The sequences made me nostalgic for Pagosa for a few minutes, and it's a nice enough place, but right now I have other fish to fry (such as figuring out how to pay for fixing our tenant's patio awning, which had partially collapsed under the weight of the water coming off the roof of the house during that gully-whumper a little while ago, but I digress...).

Having other fish to fry segues neatly into starting the translation that I received yesterday, and chasing paper (in between).

Cheers...
