Today's operation has been delayed by a couple of hours, which is not a big thing in the overall scheme of things, but when you're on the hook to support said operation, such a delay can seem awfully long.

I managed to get a Skype call through to Galina, since the "magic" code that allows calls home using the local phones has yet to be disclosed. The quality of the completed connection was very much less than optimum, but considering it was made over a dial-up connection, I can't really complain.

The subject for this week's LJ Idol competition is, broadly speaking, a rant. While I have done my share of ranting in my LJ, I must say that I've never quite done so "on demand," the way, say, political bloggers seem able to do so effortlessly on a daily basis. On the other hand, I've been composing snippets of an essay on the meaning of education - or more properly, its purpose - that might blossom into something suitable.

I managed to restart my Nanowrimo novel yesterday, completing another 2500 words, which is about what I will have to maintain on a daily basis for the rest of the month in order to achieve the stated goal of 50,000 words. I am pleased that the story line still seems focused, though how long that will continue is open to speculation.

Cheers...
