One long road...

Galina and I left the house this morning at almost 6:45 am, headed for Albuquerque. We made better time than I had expected, had breakfast at an IHOP about a mile from the airport, and I dropped Galina off at the departure area 2 hours and 10 minutes before her scheduled wheels-up time.
I dawdled for a while in Albuquerque and then headed home, getting here around 6 pm. Upon opening the garage door, something went pop off to the side, and it turns out that a hinge holding two door panels together is hanging by a thread, the bottom line to which is that I can't close the garage door. This will probably be tolerable as long as it doesn't start to snow, but will have to be patched somehow if snow does threaten.
After fiddling with the door, I called Galina, and the call went directly to voice mail, which told me that she hadn't turned the radio part of her BlackBerry on yet. So then I called Natalie, and left a message. I called again later and got through.
Everything is okay, except for that lonesome feeling in my chest.
Cheers...

Date: 2008-12-31 08:07 pm (UTC)I shored up the panels this morning while working on the hinge. Apparently one of the bolts holding the hinge in place sheared, and that probably happened because the panel it's in has warped.
The hinge bolt has been repaired and reinforced, and the door is now closed, but until I figure out a way to unwarp the bottom panel, the car stays outside. :^(
Cheers...
