Or maybe just slow, but not strange. (I mean, after a while, you've pretty much seen 'em all.)

I keep doing it to myself. Work overload. Between this, that, and the third thing, I didn't realize that taking the weekend off (which isn't quite accurate, but close enough if you consider my schedule last week) would put me in the kwangduk guano until Wednesday night of this week. Matters are under control right now, but only by a hair.

The guy who was supposed to have come by on Saturday to fix holes in the new laundry room (created to route the dryer vent) came by this morning. He then returned later with a colleague, and together, they investigated the feasibility of removing a column that is all that remains of the wall that used to exist between the kitchen and the living room. I joined them in the attic and was surprised to see a bunch of boxes up there, mostly filled with books.

It turns out that, as I suspected, removing the column would not be a good move, since doing so would require spending an incredible amount of money to keep the house from falling down as a result. I hope the issue is now closed.

I managed to squeak through this week's LJ Idol vote; so thanks to all who voted for me. If my math is right, the competition is down to (about) 53 contestants. The next entry deadline is Thursday evening, and strangely enough, having TPTB specify an "open topic" this week isn't helping me come up with any ideas. Then again, I haven't really given much thought to what might make a good subject. I'm confident I'll post an entry, but it might happen pretty close to the deadline.

It's late, and we have a guy coming by tomorrow to replace the front door. Hopefully, my assistance will not be required for very long during the process, because I have just about 10,000 more words to complete by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Cheers...

*grin*

54 competitors, unless we lost another one I don't know about.

Oo-er. Good luck with the work load!

Does this mean that you don't actually have a front door right now? In the snow?? I am confused...

Thanks!

No, we do have a front door, but it's kind of old and dumpy looking, and Galina's been thinking of (a) replacing it and (b) reinstalling it elsewhere in the house.

What makes the whole thing possible now is that she bought a replacement door during her most recent trip to Houston!

Oh, I see. Shouldn't you wait until summer though, to have your front door taken off the hinges for a day? Or do you have one of those "air lock" type entry ways, that will keep the warm air inside?

Well, it actually gets pretty warm (relatively speaking) when the sun comes out; it's nearly 17°C right now in the basement.

(And the wood-burning stove is pedaling as fast as it can, too!)

Cheers...

Brrr, anything less than 17C is winter for us :)

But wood stoves are very nice, I miss those from my days in Tasmania. Every house had one, or a proper fireplace...
