eBook reader dilemma...

alexpgp1) Sony disqualifies itself simply by being Sony, with all of the attendant lame DRM and Sony's dismal attitude regarding intellectual property.
2) I've got concerns about the Kindle, which I've aired previously in my LJ, directly or indirectly related to DRM as well (e.g., discouraging non-Amazon content and being dependent on Amazon's good graces for continued access to a service that makes the hardware usable).
3) BeBook would seem to be an alternative, though I cannot seem to get the time of day from the company. Several days ago, I Twittered them with "Is it worth buying the current model, or should I wait for the release of version 2? If the former, what is the resale market like?" and received no reply. Figuring they were busy with the London Book Fair, I resent the tweet a couple of days ago and it, too disappeared into a black hole. There is only one used BeBook for sale on eBay right now, at about 50-60% of retail.
