Getting my butt kicked!

I'm trying to overcome a pretty steep learning curve with the current assignment, which in and of itself is no big deal, except that I'm falling behind with my self-imposed quota. It's still too early to hit the panic button, though, and I need to relax and concentrate on the issues at hand.

While I'm waiting for a PDF to download, I can't help but be humbled by all of the stuff out there on the 'net that keeps poor translators from making fools of themselves. Over the past few hours, I've had brief flashbacks to the days when one's reference library was either whatever one had in one's house or whatever actual brick-and-mortar library one could get into (and even then, one had to put in a lot of elbow grease to coax the smallest tidbit out of what was available).

Back to work! My productivity this past hour has been horrible (only 120 words!).

That's how I got into translations even though my formal education has nothing to do with it: by cleaning up someone else's mess!
