Another lawyer appointment cut into my enjoyment of the game between Spain and Germany, but that's the way things go. Spain won, so the final will be between the Spanish team and the team from the Netherlands.

Some work came in that would have eliminated any soccer-watching at all, except that a follow-up call came in to tell me the work wasn't actually due until tomorrow morning. It's done, and right now I'm torn between doing a short second item (340 words) and looking for a card case that contains, among other goodies, my driving license.

The suspense is unbearable!

I think I'll write the translation, then go look for my ID.

Cheers...

Ah, it's nice to know that SOMEBODY besides me is watching this tournament! Today was the first time I had seen Germany and the second I had seen Spain. I thought that Spain looked to be the better team throughout today's match.

During yesterday's Nederlands/Paraguay game my sympathies were with the paraguayans until about halfway through when I suddenly remembered that they were the ones who saved a goal by using their arms. Since TWO of them raised their arms in the goal (and neither of them a goalie!) it was obvious that they had preplanned that action. I regretfully had to retract most of my support.

Though, in retrospect, what they did was exactly like certain livejournal idolists who play that game with full awareness of the rules and exactly what the consequences are. Those guys knew that one of them would get a red card and be eliminated. But in the end, it sent the game into overtime, which may or may not have been in their favor. It was a risk they knew they had to take.
