I do hereby apologize for all the bad things I've ever said and thought about shifts that run from midnight to 8 am. I was mistaken to have formulated and given voice to such expressions.
All such activity should actually have been directed at shifts that start at 8 pm and go to 5 am, but that's enough of that...
The loops are quiet (for the most part), the software reloads on board the station are done, and everyone in orbit is asleep, resting in preparation for a fun day of EVAs tomorrow. Olga's on console, and I'm in the cavernous "back room," ready to do whatever needs doing to support the RIO (Russian Interface Officer).
In reviewing last night's longer post (actually, this morning's longer post, for all you people out there with a normal schedule), I get the impression that I sound as if I expect the imminent demise of LJ.
I don't. I am a great believer in the battle cry, "It ain't over 'til it's over!", widely attributed to Yogi Berra. I've seen organizations rally and survive, against the odds.
Unfortunately, I've also seen healthy organizations that seemed robust go down the tubes.
Which path will LJ take? I don't know, and though I think I know how the smart money will bet (given my current state of knowledge), I'll still root for this place to survive.
On that note... I shall retire this particular soapbox.
