I managed to translated about 7,000 words today, and if my eyes had arms and legs, they would've probably left my bruised and unconscious carcass lying on the garage floor as they headed out the door toward some less harsh environment.

The past few nights have been movie nights at the old homestead, and between The Tourist, Salt, and this evening's From Paris With Love, I'm not quite sure who is who any more. I enjoyed all three films because the story lines managed to avoid the same-old-same-old, and in such a way that I didn't really mind some of the more egregious "reaches" that had to occur for the plots to unfold. Be that as it may, almost anything one might reveal further about these films would be spoilers, so I'll go ahead and keep my yap zipped.

There are a little over 3,000 words left in the big job for Monday, and about 2,000 words for another assignment, also due Monday. Compared with today, tomorrow ought to be a walk in the park.

Cheers...

7K words?! On weekend? Geez... can you even feel your fingertips now? ;)

Oh, my fingertips are fine. It's my eyeballs that want me to cool it.

The document ran into a fairly long section of sorta-kinda parallel sections, so TM came in real handy.

I've downloaded the memoQ, but haven't installed it yet, as trying to translate 12,000 words over the weekend while assimilating a new piece of software is not my idea of a fun time in town on Friday (or Saturday, or Sunday) night.

Cheers...

I can understand that. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with, I've been using memoQ for a while now.

Actually, one thing you may want to keep in mind is that you can't rename projects and TMs, so choose carefully, or be prepared to re-create them later, not that it's all that difficult. Personally, I have 2 'master' projects where I work on all smallish jobs with 2 master TMs (two because I work both to and from Russian). Also, I have dedicated projects and TMs for specific long-term clients, with their own terminology. It works for me, anyway :) You can use as many TMs as you like in any project, but only one will be updated with new translations.

P.S. Do let me know about when you might be free for that interview ;)
