There was a TSA inspection notice inside my bag, but I had known back at Laguardia that my luggage had been inspected because the TSA-approved lock I had put on the bag was gone when I picked the beg off the conveyor. It's the second or third lock that's vanished like this, and it makes me wonder about a few things, including the sense of ever putting a lock on luggage.

On the way back to the hotel, Galina and I stopped at the Azerbaijan Grill, on Old Country Road in Westbury near where Merrick Avenue becomes Post Avenue. Galina had the salmon steak and a glass of Riesling, while I ordered a platter with Kebab Berg (basically grilled tenderloin of beef) and Kadibeh Kebab (grilled ground lamb). I also ordered a bottle of Efes dark beer, which was drinkable, but not to the extent that I might consider seeking it out and ordering it again.

Breakfast today was at a McDonald's just down the road. Here on Long Island, there is apparently enough demand for the "steak, egg & cheese" bagel to keep the item on the menu. I happen to like it, so that's what I ordered (even if I routinely throw away the fried potato cake that comes with the meal).

I feel a fit of shopping coming on.

Cheers...

Submit a loss claim to TSA and demand a new lock. They owe you.
