The machine I was running the disk recovery on was making about 1.5% headway per day, which meant about 67 days of continuous operation before the first pass would be complete, whereupon if any files were actually identified, I'd probably have to wait at least half again as long to recover them. If.

That's just not in the cards.

I put all the drives back into the Acer easyStore and fired up the recovery CD, and it's taken the better part of the day to get past numerous errors (e.g., not finding the server if my wireless connection is up, not running the restore unless the restore program is run in Administrator mode, not installing the connection software if the restore program was run in Administrator mode.

I am not thinking very charitable thoughts about the whole concept of a backup server right now. I just hope I didn't blindly erase files from the two main external backup drives that held the past few years worth of work.

In other news, as the proud owner of a set of wheels, I rented Thor from the Redbox machine at the City Market (probably because I enjoyed the eponymous Marvel comic back in the day), but for whatever reason, I found the movie to be unwatchable (I tried twice). It would appear I am becoming increasingly cantankerous when it comes to movies. Go figure.

Cheers...
