There doesn't seem to be too much demand for the sauna around here in the summer, but it got turned on today, and I took advantage of its availability. I enjoyed a moderate session, and came back to the room refreshed.

I dozed off last night while listening to John McWhorter narrate Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue, only to wake up some time later and then be unable to fall asleep again. When I finally did get to sleep, it wasn't for long, as a storm—complete with lightning, rain, and wind—passed through our area. There were enough puddles in the morning to suggest it was a fairly serious storm in terms of precipitation, but the heat of the day evaporated the puddles fairly quickly.

As a result I feel as if I'm a couple of quarts low on sleep, a situation I plan on rectifying in short order.

What's with the icon that appears to have the rough coordinates of Baikonur on it but a vague crosshair on western Arabia?

Interesting observation.

Some years ago, I captured the graphic from a satellite tracking program, and that "vague crosshair" is actually the area within which one could see the ISS at the time I captured the image. The ISS ground track is shown in red, BTW

I suppose I should rethink this userpic.

Cheers...

P.S. FWIW, the coordinates are within 3 minutes of arc of where I am actually located.
