alexpgpAmong the Best Books of 2013, as compiled by Kirkus Reviews, there is a slender tome in the "Indie" category that recounts the experiences of one Aleksandr Sokolenko, who spent a part of his life as a prisoner in the Soviet Gulag.
As the translator of the book, I must say this recognition is gratifying, and although the recognition is for the story (which is obviously not my own), I cannot help but think that my translation aided in its telling (and maybe even its selection).
P.S. Clicking the graphic will land you on the Amazon page that sells the Kindle version of the book, which at the moment is very reasonably priced, in my opinion. In the interests of full disclosure, I suppose I should note that, theoretically, I get some minuscule cut of the proceeds of any sale made on that page.
