Today, there was lots of incoming, and less of outgoing (but still a reasonable amount, IMO). And for some reason, I've become the object of several translators looking to collaborate along the lines of the arrangement I already have with Feht.

Apropos of which, I am told that sales of the small book I translated of Gulag memoirs, published last year under the title Keep Forever, has not done too badly in terms of sales.

In the course of the day, Galina and I visited the local library, where it turned out that the book I wanted was out. I must learn to better use the Internet, I suppose. As compensation, I learned, during my visit, that I was born the day after "Joltin' Joe" DeMaggio announced his retirement from baseball.

And it occurs to me there are a couple of "niche" subjects about which I could write as a subject-matter expert, and it only remains for me to get off my dead duff and do something about it.

Meanwhile, it's time to go to bed...

There are times I think that LJ in general, and LJI in particular, do nothing more but scratch the itch enough to keep me from... and here, I pause to think hard about the what it keeps me from.

Is it from (a) getting down to actually writing, or (b) feeling an even greater level of frustration because I'm not writing at all!

What a great thing to translate, though. Such stories need to be heard.
