A day to myself (sort of)...

Although it didn't start out looking like that kind of day, it eventually got around to raining again, well before the ground had an opportunity to dry out to any appreciable extent. I cut the grass in the back of the house anyway, once the rain had stopped, and it was a tough slog.
On other news, Galina and I did the rounds of some nurseries, where bougainvillea would appear to be in bloom (and on sale, at least at one such establishment).
On a hunch, I looked up flea markets and managed to find an outside market off of Shaver. It was rather spread out, and amazingly, there was no charge to either park or get into the place. (There's a market over on Telephone Road, in Pearland, whose formal name escapes me, but which charges somehing like $1 or $2 per car for parking.)
That said, quite a number of the booths were wrapped up tight, no doubt because of the recent drenching), but at least the place did not look like a convocation of dealers with established "storefronts."
Last night, in a fit of semi-insomnia, I managed to finish reading Fool Me Twice, by Michael Brandman, which managed to be a fairly good approximation of a Robert B. Parker Jesse Stone novel. Today, I managed to polish off Lee Childs' Worth Dying For, which surprised me in terms of the quality of the twists and turns in the story, despite (and perhaps even because of) what at first glance appear to be contrived plot points.
In any event, the work computer stayed off today.
Cheers...
