Endeavour undocked on time today and is on its way back home. I ran across a prominent participant of the daily MMT (mission management team) telecon and found out that my take on the Russian position ("What's the big deal? The Shuttle's leaving today; the Soyuz is arriving tomorrow.") was just about right on. Some things, though, will undoubtedly have to be worked out for the future. Undock marks the end of interpreter involvement on the FCR consoles, so it was pretty lonely for me in the MCC in the latter half of the day, when I went past the interpreter room on my way to get my n-th cup of coffee today, and noticed it was empty.

Then again, the Russian side helped me keep my mind off my loneliness by sending over a full baker's dozen of radiograms at about 1:45 pm. I translated 7 of them (the ones that will be used tomorrow) in the remaining 3 hours of the day and left the other 6 (which are effective on May 1 or later) for tomorrow morning. No need to go out of my way to stress myself out completely, right? Plus, starting tomorrow, the shift for the Execute Package goes over to 7 hours, starting at 9 am. (Not to worry...I'm sure the fairy godmother in charge of telecons will come a calling, to help me fill in those empty early morning hours later in the week!)

Hmmm. It's a about 9:30 pm, and still no Natalie. A call to Colorado confirmed she left early yesterday evening, so it's too early to get well and truly worried, but not too late to think about where she might be, and why she's not here.

Yesterday, after returning the movies I'd rented previously and renting two more, I watched Sly Stallone in Get Carter, as I was in the mood for that kind of flick. I had no false illusions that this was going to be great cinema or anything, and I was not disappointed. At times, there did seem to be a genuine story struggling to wriggle off the screen, but the environment was too much for the poor thing, and it died peacefully. Next up (when I have the time) is The Legend of Bagger Vance. Tonight, though, was the night for The X Files. (Geez, I sound like all I do is watch stuff on teevee...)

The plot for tonight's showing was pretty weak, though it had to do with The Great "Black Oil" Plot. It gave the characters of Doggett and Mulder an opportunity to square off, provided Doggett a chance to see the "X" part of the world first hand, and (in theory) introduced a watershed change in the relationship between the FBI, Mulder, Doggett, and Scully (Mulder's been sacked). I'm not holding my breath, though, as to the finality of Fox's career change.

Time to start easing off and go get ready for sleep. Despite the later start tomorrow, I still plan to get up at the "usual" time, so as to perhaps get some of the things done around here that been left undone for too long.

Cheers...
