Upon leaving the MCC yesterday afternoon, I headed north, toward Lee and an ugly dark line of thunderclouds that extended from horizon to horizon. The radio was already squawking about sheets of rain coming down near where Lee lives, and began to list the accidents ostensibly caused by the weather. I pressed onward.

I eventually got to Lee's (hence the previous post), and she convinced me to go watch a movie.. or the movie as it turned out.

Yes, we went to see The Lord of the Rings.

I enjoyed the movie, certainly, but knowing very little about saga, I'm sure I missed quite a bit. Knowing very little also did not prepare me for the credits to start rolling in the middle of an entertaining story, either. (Grumble.)

When we left the theater, it was 11 pm. We went back to Lee's and started to pack her rather limited set of belongings. Besides her television, virtually all of the furniture belongs to her roommate (and will have to go into storage, as it won't fit into the Pearland house).

Her television - a mid-sized large screen job - must weigh in excess of 100 pounds. Furthermore, it's got these ridges along the bottom edge that guarantee exquisite pain shooting through your fingers about 10 seconds after you try to lift the thing. After fussing with the thing for about 20 minutes at the top of the stairs leading down to the car, we decided not to push our luck and manhandled it back into the apartment.

Lee wanted to stick around a bit to wait for Dwayne (he'd been taken by his parents to see Z Z Top perform at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), but I suggested that he'd probably gone back to his parents house for the night. Lee got online while I napped; about 40 minutes later we were on the road. It turned out that Dwayne was online from his parents' house, and was in no mood to come over to help us pack the television.

Once on the road, we stopped first at a place called Mama's Cafe on Westheimer. There, I had an "early" breakfast, consisting of a plate of eggs benedict Mexicana. Lee had French toast.

By the time we got home, it was after 2 am. I fell asleep immediately (despite the 3 cups of coffee I'd consumed at Mama's); Lee didn't fall asleep until 6 am, according to what she said when I got up this morning. She's in the bedroom sleeping as I write this.

That puts a major kink in my plans for the day. I was supposed to go down to Seabrook and remove a couch from our NASDA tenant's house. I can't do that alone, and I can't expect my tenant to help (though I'll ask when I call in a few minutes). Since the tenants generally quit town for weekends, my next opportunity won't be until Monday if the tenant can't help.

I also need to stop by my client's office with my invoice, which means I need to create it, plus sign the contract for the upcoming year. While I'm there, it would not hurt to drop a few bucks into our checking account at the bank downstairs from the client, nor to visit the doctor across the street.

Lots to do... and there won't be enough time to do it in if I dawdle.

Cheers...
