While Galina and Lee watched a series on pyramids on TLC (I sat in on part of it, regrettably it was the segment on human sacrifice... yech), I went out to the living room and finished off Ill Wind by Nevada Barr. I'd started the book some time back, but did not find it a captivating read. Nonetheless, when I found a second book by Barr on sale at a garage sale, the jacket blurb sounded so enticing, I decided to give the author another try. The introduction of a Columbo-like FBI agent gave the lead character someone concrete to play off of, and the climax of the story was actually pretty good. I think the lead character might grow on me.

I called client T in Houston to ask what questions they had about my invoice. The question was asked by them and satisfactorily answered. I also got a nice note from client I in California congratulating me on my timely and professional work.

More later, possibly, as I'm at the store, and there's a report to do...

Cheers...

It was that kind of day, and I will not dwell on it.

The good part came after we all got home. Despite not eating at the same time (Drew and Shannon drove a friend of theirs home), we ended up sitting around the dining room table, watching Huntur walk around the area, and talking about all sorts of things. Galina mentioned her clairvoyant friend in Russia, Natalie recalled her ROTC career in high school in Clear Lake, and Shannon told of how Huntur is interacting with some of her peers (Huntur appears to be very aggressive with visiting infants).

When the UPS driver came to pick up packages, it was raining. (Again. And I'm not complaining.) When we got home, we were told that it had been hailing, and hard. The hail was dime-sized, and Shannon said they she had been concerned that the windows would not be able to take the hammering. The ground got pretty well soaked, and a few things around the house got blown around.

I got my SAR identification card today, so now I'm "legal" to operate in that area. I was listening a few minutes ago to the county dispatcher, who went to "tac" in order to relay information to a police unit. The encryption is good enough to keep the casual listener from understanding what is being said, but I suspect it's probably not good enough to thwart people with money to invest in equipment (not that anyone like that would be hanging out in Pagosa Springs :^).

I did not come home dead tired, but tired nonetheless. I got up at 6 am on my own this morning, and that's always a good sign. It's time to cut the computing and go upstairs and see what Galina and Lee are watching on TV (earlier, they were watching another program about pyramids, but not of the same series that was aired last night on TLC).

Cheers...
