Client mixups...
Jul. 9th, 2002 10:23 pmIt's really hairy when two clients fall behind in paying invoices, and you confuse e-mails from one as being from the other. The client who owes me a January invoice said today that they never received the invoice, which sounds like something my mother would call a "likely story," except that double-checking the e-mails regarding a late payment showed them to be from a different client.
So I've been asked (and have complied) with sending the missing invoice, which the client says they will pay immediately. Actually, I've sent the missing invoice along with a list of all other invoices for the year, so we can make sure we are singing from the same page of music.
One other client kvetch: I got a call asking me to do a 2-pager, which I agreed to do, except upon coming home, I don't seem to have the source material either in my e-mail or in my fax file.
Natalie started to feel puny at mid-morning and went home to rest. I continued to sort through the back of the store between customers for the rest of the day.
* * * At around lunch, a report came of smoke from the next major ridge over from where we live; when Drew called the local firefighters, they said they were on it. When I came home, I saw no smoke anywhere.
Soon after, another afternoon storm came through, with wind gusts of probably 50-60 mph, bringing with it more light rain. The mountains received most of the precipitation, which is okay, since it all eventually feeds into the San Juan river and flows past town.
* * * Baby seems to have lost her mousing instinct, or interest. As a result, there has been a local boom in the mouse population, to the point where it is annoyingly noticeable. (Shannon is quite, um, petrified of the little creatures, and Lee said two ran over her feet as she sat in my office, typing on the computer.) I think tomorrow we will go stock up on traps and set them out tomorrow night.
* * * We took advantage of a pay-per-view "deal" and watched Heist after dinner (shrimp scampi à la Drew). The film was well put together, with a lot of plot twists, some of them unexpected. I liked Hackman's character a lot.
It's been a long day. G'night.
Cheers...
