Voom!

This day went by fast.

I got up early and went to the store to do the tax stuff and the report, and then open the store. I finally got free around noon, and went home to find frantic messages from client U about when I'd be finished with the assignment.

I worked like crazy and sent in the files about 40 minutes ago. I'll send an invoice on Monday. (BTW, the check that was promised to be sent out on the 12th still has not arrived.)

I think I will either go take a nap or go give Galina a footrub. Then I will dive into PHProjekt and see what the app has to offer. I've already played a little with the forum feature (it seems to work) and the time card feature (which I don't much like, as it works off of actually clicking on "in" and "out" buttons as opposed to filling in those times later).

Cheers...

Galina and I watched Species on the tube. I'd never seen it before, and my life is no fuller for having finally done so. The commercial breaks were filled with noise for something called Spy Girls, something of a cross between The Mod Squad, Charlie's Angels, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Police Academy (there... I think that covers all bases).

Of course, my assessment is based on a mere two minutes of having watched the show, after which I couldn't take any more and had to leave the room.

Everyone under the age of 30 is out somewhere. Lee decided to go catch up with some high-school cronies, Drew went to play golf with Brady, and Shannon and Huntur went somewhere, but I don't know where.

The more I play with PHProjekt, the more I'm impressed. Time cards can be done retroactively, but the program will send "the boss" an email about it. That's a nice feature, one that eluded us at my former job (and which resulted in the design of a timecard system only its designer could love).

You can upload, download, and selectively make available various files from your machine. I can use this in my translation work to create an organized backup of my assignments, and I'm sure we can use this feature at the store, although we don't make use of many files there (who am I kidding... can I say "accounting"?)

One interesting thing about the app is this: suddenly, on my desktop, the interface is showing up in Russian. I didn't do anything to set this up, and I don't think there is anything in my browser that would cause the app to do this (although there may be something left over after I visit a site such as LJ, which is doing UTF-8). Interestingly enough, the browser tells me the page is encoded using Western European (Windows) encoding.

More clouds today, and I think the mountains got their fair share of rain today. It sprinkled a little around the house.

Time to put up the computer for the night and get some real rest.

Cheers...

P.S. Sasha had a real bad day today.
