I don't think they're going to fruit...
Sep. 15th, 2002 12:55 pmYesterday, a few minutes after posting, I got well and truly sick and tired of the translation and decided to go through the woods again, looking for mushrooms.
I figured, after several days of pretty good rains, it was time.
My route took me up Piedra (aka CR 500) and over onto Plumtaw, with the idea of eventually coming out in Pagosa Springs. However, after driving several miles along a road I know is capable of producing mushrooms, I saw nothing. I even stopped at a place where, back in 1995, I harvested some awesome oyster mushrooms and saw numerous other fungus I didn't know enough about to pick.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero. The Big Nothing.
In any event, I am getting the message, slowly, that mushroom season has come and gone, and that the few mushrooms I've seen are likely not the "early birds" but the "overachievers." I think everyone else has gone to sleep.
* * * I have decided not to worry too much about this 200+-page translation. I shall make a proper notification of my project manager of my status, and if she wants to hand off a chunk of my section to someone else, she's welcome to do so.
Talking about that monstrosity, it's time I get back to work for a little while. The kids are supposed to be coming over later today, around 5 pm, and we haven't a thing to eat in the house.
Cheers...
