As I got ready to go to sleep last night, I felt a telltale roughness in the back of my throat that presaged the development of Something Bad.

I'm no hero.

I immediately dosed myself with a couple of grams of vitamin C, and with yet another gram in the middle of the night, during which I slept fitfully. Upon arising this morning, I took yet another gram of C and started to bathe my throat with hot tea with lemon.

Galina just left for Durango, to pick up our order of boxes, styrofoam peanuts, and bubble wrap. I need to go downstairs, review my translation, and send it off before showering and going to the store.

Unless I was dreaming, I should be getting more material to translate today, due Thursday.

Cheers...

Whatever it is I have is not awful... strike that. It is awful.

Mostly runny nose, congestion, an ache around the jaw and jaw hinge, scratchy eyes, and a mad desire to breathe moist air.

So, of course, this would be the day that everyone and their cousin calls me, wanting to put work on my plate.

Yeow!

I started the day deciding to take it easy (just for today), but between phone calls - and the fact that I couldn't fall asleep anyway - I started to get fidgety. After all, deadlines are deadlines, and I'm basically set for the next week (or maybe longer).

So I decided to at least start on some of what's piled up around here. So far, I've got about half the first assignment in the bag (thank goodness for people who write clearly!).

Anyway... it's time to go down my n-th gram of C for the day (where n = 6, or maybe 7... I've lost count), and maybe an aspirin to help make me forget about the bottom half of my head. Then it's off to sleep and - hopefully - a better day tomorrow.

Cheers...
