My experience over the past couple of days with the training document led me to conclude that I could probably make a grand effort and get both today's and tomorrow's scheduled slug of work done in one day. The routine at the store cooperated by not tiring me out before I got home.

The long and short of it is that I started at about 1:30 pm and finished the project (or at least the first pass through it) shortly before 9 pm. In between, I took nearly three hours off to eat dinner and hang a bit with Galina.

What this means is that I can spend some reasonable amount of time polishing the text tomorrow morning, and get it out the door by 1 pm my time, on time as scheduled. It also means I can get a start on the work due Monday morning and not have to go crazy trying to finish on time.

Yesterday, Galina broke open the bottle of retsina that I bought back in March, on my way home from Durango. I'd never had it, but the name is something you associate with Greece, a country of which I have fond memories. About the only thing I knew about the wine is that most people have to develop a taste for it, as there is a distinct taste of pine resin in the wine.

Galina didn't know that, so after she took her first sip, she pronounced the wine as spoiled (it tasted like mildew, she said). I sipped and saw how one could easily conclude that about the wine. However, if I sipped and thought "pine resin" at the same time, it went a long way toward helping it go down.

Tonight, I popped open some Zinfandel for Galina, and celebrated finishing the translation with a small glass of the retsina. I may be developing a taste for it, I don't know. :^)

Cheers...
