I finished another matrix article today, although this was a toughie, with some terminology I am not very sure about. Fortunately, I got through by 4 pm, which was when Huntur's "weekend" birthday party was to start.

Galina and I got there a little late, but it really didn't matter. There were kids on 16-inch centers, it seemed. One of Drew's friends brought over a load of sand for the sandbox, Drew cooked some stuff on the neighbor's barbeque, and everyone had a pretty good time.

At the end, Huntur had to wade through a small mountain of presents, although if truth be told, most of them appeared to be in the utilitarian category (clothes, shoes, etc.).

Grandma Ellen, Josh, Sarah, Owen, Mikayla, and Hayley (sp?), the baby who reminds me a little of Kurt Russell, will be leaving Pagosa around oh-dark-thirty to return to California. Josh and Sarah put an offer down on a house, and as I understand it, it's been accepted and now the loan process must run its course. They'll likely be coming out for good in August or September.

Galina and I will try to catch Sunday morning breakfast at the Lodge tomorrow. It turns out that Olga Z., the language student from Russia (Pyatigorsk) is apparently meeting Pat and Georgia C. for breakfast and in a conversation yesterday, sort of invited me and Galina to join them. I'd like to meet the young lady, as there may be some benefit to me if she can do some proofreading work and some benefit to her in seeing a working professional on the job.

Talking about people from Russia, some neighbors stopped by the birthday party and one of them turned out to be a young Russian woman from Phoenix who's visiting for a week. In the brief conversation that she, Galina, and I had, it would seem that she, her husband, and child may be tracing the path that Galina and I took way so many years ago. I hope we get an opportunity to meet them again before they go.

Pat is not answering on the 2-meter rig, so maybe I'll try tomorrow morning, before breakfast.

Cheers...
