All sorts of stuff happening today.

I got a couple of quickies to do in front of the last part of the big job due tomorrow. The documents reflect the increasing informality of communications today, as opposed to when I started working in this racket. And the trend is not letting up. Today's items contained quite a bit more informal speech than I am used to seeing. To make sure I'd nailed the nuances, I called Feht.

He's been moping around waiting for promised work that's taking its own sweet time in arriving. By the by, he noted that there was a brush fire burning between his place and highway 151, and that he was downwind of the fire. Apparently, it had started as the result of a thunderstorm that passed by the area yesterday, dropping far more lightning bolts than rain. Later in the day, it became apparent that something else was burning, over toward Chimney Rock. A few minutes ago, Drew came by to borrow the van, and although my eyes cannot make it out, he swears there is a glow on a ridgeline to the west of us. If true, that's still 4-5 miles away.

I found mail from a Houston client inviting me down for a 3-week stay, and it looks like the trip is on, so I'm in sort of crunch mode, as I have quite a bit of store-related tasks to finish before I leave Saturday. The to-do list is growing.

In other news, the big job for tomorrow is done (first pass) and I know I have one major misunderstanding to clean up yesterday, along with the usual details, but I feel confident that I'll be able to get the job off in good time.

So far, it's looking like an excellent month.

Cheers...
