I got to sleep around 1:30 am last night, after implementing some crucial functions in Doug and Kat's Perl script. The thrill of accomplishment gave way to the dull ache of sleeplessness as I gathered my tired carcass this morning to go to the ham breakfast.

(Sure, I could have slept for another - what? hour? - and that would likely have not made a whit of difference in the way I felt. At least this way, I enjoyed the company of some nice folks!)

I went home around 11 am, tasked with catching up on our receivables, and with my own private agenda of compiling and filing the quarterly state sales tax return and the quarterly unemployment insurance return. My score for the day was one for three in that direction. (I'm taking the receivables stuff with me, and the unemployment isn't due until the end of the month.)

I cleaned up a bit around the office, since I'll be gone for a while, but right now the last thing I want to be doing is sitting in front of a computer. Galina and I went out for dinner tonight, at the Hog's Breath Saloon, and spent some time recalling some trips overseas that we'd taken. The candidates for "best" are (in no particular order): the '91 trip to Paris, the '89 trip to Europe (with the kids), the '96 trip to Corfu (with the kids), and a trip we both remember, but can't remember the date of (I'm partial to '87), to Vienna.

I think I'll go upstairs and spend a little more time with Galina. Mike (from the store) is supposed to pick me up at 8 am and take me to Durango. It'll put me there early, but he needs to get back in time to pick up mail downtown. (Having Drew gone is not the best of worlds.)

Cheers...
