Mid-afternoon update...
Jun. 9th, 2005 04:29 pmOkay, so it's not really the mid-afternoon. Then again, seeing as how the sun goes down pretty late, maybe it is...
For the third day in a row, I walked to the store and opened. I have yet to measure the distance, but it now takes me a hair under 45 minutes. I listen to music as I go, though for the last 15 minutes, I listened to Michel Thomas hold forth with his French "language builder" (it's getting to the point where I have almost memorized the disk!). In any event, that makes 5 days in a row of walking, with the distance exceeding 2 miles per day on four of those days.
Various tasks were accomplished through the rest of the day, the most important being my finishing the second half of the paper chase (leaving me only one additional "half," in the sense that 20% of the work takes 80% of the time, and that the remaining 80% of the work..., well..., that takes an additional 80% chunk of the time allotted for a job). Amazingly, I have left the translation job due one week from now pretty much unmolested (and I am not so sure this is a good idea, especially considering that one day will fully be taken up with driving down to Houston).
I expect to do the last part of the paper chase tonight, once I have a specific idea of what must be done. That will actually leave me all of tomorrow - well, most of tomorrow, as we plan to leave very early on Saturday - to translate. Maybe I can persuade Drew to cough up the dingus that sits in the cigarette lighter and provides a moderate amount of 120VAC via a normal plug, which might allow me to translate while in the car (though I think the more immediate problem there will have to do with being able to view the screen and positioning the laptop for work).
We'll see.
Cheers...
