...and a wakeup!
Jul. 3rd, 2005 11:56 pmTime is running short. Galina and I got back from Feht's a couple of hours ago, where we had the usual pleasant time and a good meal. The only thing that bothers me is that the battery idiot light came on a couple of times on the way home. That would tend to indicate a loose connection somewhere, methinks. I really should check it out before hitting the hay. (Fat chance. I'll check it as we load the car for the trip to the airport.)
Feht helped make out some of the more illegible phrases in the document proffered to me for translation, and thus, the item due Tuesday is done and sent, which is just as well, as I won't have any time to work on it between now and then. Heck, I'll barely have enough time to actually put the stuff I'm taking into my luggage (it's been staged on my bed... but not yet laid away). I really should do that before hitting the hay.
I had worked out a brilliant solution to arriving in Moscow with a charged cell phone (given that I could not find the charger cable that runs off the cigarette lighter and thus, had only a 220-VAC charger at my disposal): dip into the men's room in Frankfurt and plug the phone in for 10-15 minutes, which ought to have given me enough juice to survive the first few hours in Moscow. However, shortly before leaving for Feht's, I found the 12-V cable, and charged the phone as we drove.
It simply doesn't look as if there's going to be much hay left to hit, at this rate.
Cheers...
