I finally went to bed last night after 11 pm and the wind howled outside my window, hurling particles of something against my window all through the night. When I got up at 7, I looked out the window and saw that whatever it was that had accumulated had not even uniformly covered the ground, even if it was white.

By the time coffee was ready, it was apparent that some parts of the sky were clearing up (albeit not in the direction of Durango, where it will really count for me in just over 4 hours). I've got the cell and the computer charging, am copying needed documents to a flash drive, and have printed out all my itineraries, work orders, and so on.

And now... I need to pack my clothes!

Today was one of those days where it was clear that the Fairy Godmother Department™ had put in some overtime.

First, the weather cleared remarkably as Galina and I drove down Highway 160 to Durango.

Next, the aircraft (owned by Mesa) arrived before it was actually scheduled to leave (so far in advance, that it left on time).

Next, the connection from Phoenix to Houston left and arrived on time, the luggage was handled expeditiously, and I was in my rental car within 30 minutes of landing.

The only glitch was finding myself behind every slowpoke in Texas as I drove to the Galleria area to have dinner with Natalie (does my car look that much like an unmarked police cruiser?).

So here I am in Clear Lake. I'm going to try to stay up for an hour or two, then hit the sack and sleep in.

Cheers...
