A lighter drag...
Dec. 20th, 2005 05:55 pmThis morning, I closed my eyes for "just a moment" after the alarm rang at 6:30 am, and the next thing I knew, it was almost 8:30 and daylight was burning! A quick call to the store confirmed that the no hordes of wild-eyed Pagosans hell-bent on mailing boxes were gathering to overrun the staff at the store, so Galina took off for the store by herself, leaving me at home and saying she'd call me later if my presence was required.
Then a client called and asked if I was available; I replied yes, conditionally. The client said fine, let me send you some items for turnaround Right Now™. Groovy, thought I, except said items never appeared in my mailbox before Galina called to say she was swinging by to pick me up so I could help take up some load in the store. In the end, I never did get the work, probably because I called to find out if there was any leeway in the deadline. (I wouldn't doubt that a solid secondary reason for not getting the work was the fact that the word "groovy" is still a part of my vocabulary, but I digress...)
It was a decidedly lighter day at the store today, which has its good aspects and bad ones, too, though by "lighter" I don't mean to somehow say there wasn't any work to do. In any event, Galina brought me back home around 3:30 pm or so, and I've been mostly in maintenance mode since, cleaning up after the cat and trying to find stuff. It's about time I turn to and start fixing dinner.
Cheers...
