So far, one heck of a day.

I got up early to finish off the French translation, and then took off for the store. Minutes after arriving at the store, where Drew was dealing with customers while Misha dangled underfoot, Huntür arrived with Shannon and I got a phone call from my French client, asking if I'd be kind enough to do 5 pages of Russian on a rush basis.

Of course, I said yes.

It didn't put me that far behind in today's pursuit of 3,000 aerospace words, but taking Huntür and Misha home with me did put a dent in my productivity. I introduced Huntür to watercolors. She gave me one of her first drawings (a yellow square).

Huntür was soon picked up by the grandparents of one of her friends, which was a relief. I managed to complete 1,300 of my self-imposed 3,000-word quota before lying down for a brief nap before coming in to relieve Drew at the store (but not before agreeing to do another small rush job for tomorrow morning). My nap was short-lived: after about 20 minutes, Drew called to say his knee had given out, and the tone of his voice gave me unkind visions of what I could expect when I came to his aid.

So, I quickly gathered myself, grabbed the dog and drove down to the store. By the time I got there, Drew had made an appointment with a chiropractor to "pop" his knee back in, but at 5 pm. Customers were coming in the store in droves, and somehow, all got served. In short, I have been slowly going crazy since arriving (though since starting this post, things've gotten quieter... right now I'm waiting for a late customer to finish addressing envelopes... tap, tap, tap... it's going to take him a while, I can see already).

So, the plan for the night will be to grab some nourishment, and then get going with the rest of my work day.

Cheers...

P.S. What is it about some clients that compel them to send you a 1-MB glossary file to help translate a 500-word document?
