Since I could, I took the day off and went with Galina to a car repair shop not far from where Natalie lives, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

When Galina picked up the Ford at the dealership, they had found and (maybe) fixed the transmission problem, but informed her of a problem with the power steering hydraulic hoses that (a) caused all the fluid to leak out and made it nearly impossible to steer the automobile, and (b) would cost around $650 to fix. On Natalie's recommendation, we went to a place called Hare Repair where the owner is apparently a mechanic (and not simply a part-replacer), who figured out a fix to our problem - a hole worn in the hose - that cost much less than the dealership's proposed alternative.

On the way home, we stopped at a Whole Foods Market, where Galina started to get on my nerves by wanting to blast through there as if it was the drive-through lane at McDonald's, but we settled down and got most of what I wanted to get, after which we made another detour to the Russian store just off of South Braeswood before finally arriving home.

The Municipal Utility District (which goes by the endearing name of "MUD") apparently hired some contractors to line the sewer piping in our neck of the woods, for which they distributed an announcement in everyone's mailbox (if so, a violation of postal regulations, but hey! who am I to call them on it?), to the effect that they'd really appreciate everyone not using water (or at least not letting it get into the sewer system) from 7 am to 7 pm.

It turns out the embargo at our end of the street actually went into effect much later in the day, and since the workers were running late, was to extend until about 9 pm (though I think I still heard their trucks out on the street about half an hour ago).

Galina and I watched something called 10 Items or Less a little while ago, with Morgan Freeman and Paz Vega. It was nice, but I really hope Freeman was acting!

Cheers...
