I am not usually a lie-abed, but after letting Shiloh out at her now customary 6:30 am (and going back to sleep), after getting up at 8 am in response to my cell alarm (and going back to bed), I am finally up as of about 45 minutes ago.

In the interim, the world turned on, in the lathe of time, and while the hot sands have not heaved amain, and nobody appears to have caught their breath from anywhere, work continues to trickle in.

But first: breakfast!

Cheers...

Then again, if you sleep a lot... that's how it will seem.

Today was one of those days. In addition to the late start, I took a nap in the late afternoon as well. Natalie got home around 8 pm, but we really didn't do a sit-down dinner; I had a salad and some leftover steak. ("Leftover steak" sounds, for some reason, inferior to simply "steak," doesn't it?)

In any event, I didn't hit the translation trail real hard today, concentrating mostly on a medical job that came in for Thursday and committing about 2000 source words to phosphor. I also accepted a 7 am telecon for tomorrow (which means I should retire soon and make sure my alarms are in place).

One of the first CDs I bought - Zoltán Kocsis playing Bach's Art of Fugue - is developing some kind of defect on one of the disks, causing it to chafe against the housing of the player. I've since ripped the disk, to make sure my investment is not lost.

On impulse, I bought the "liquorice" flavor of Altoids the other day, hoping that the flavor wasn't as "curiously strong" as in some of Callard & Bowser's other offerings. It turns out the flavor is simply delightful, very reminiscent of pfeffernusse cookies, which I particularly fondly remember from my childhood as a highlight of the Christmas season (complete with a coating of powdered confectioner's sugar). At about 3 calories a mint, it's an affordable treat.

And now, it's off to dreamland!

Cheers...
