Visiting my parents' bank today was a really good idea, as it provided me with all the documents I need to put the lawyer in motion regarding my dad's will, and also tied off a loose end I didn't even know needed tying. The bank, by the way, sort of blew my mind in that the normal business hours are as I remember them... back when I was a kid: except for Fridays, the bank opens at 9 am and closes at 3 pm. And guess what the principal document is with regard to savings accounts?

A passbook.

Has anyone under the age of 30 even seen a passbook?

One of yesterday's missed translation opportunities turned into a monolingual proofreading job, and by "proofreading," the agency expects me to make sure spelling and grammar are correct and that the text reads smoothly.

I can do that all day long, and seeing as how billings for the month have yet to emerge from a hole, much less cast a shadow, I shall spend 3 hours on Tuesday so doing.

While the agency's confidentiality agreement and explanation of task responsibilities was pretty straightforward, their "registration" form was altogether too complex, probing for all sorts of arcane information I wasn't particularly keen on sharing. In the allotted spaces, I provided the necessary personal and bank data and printed a PDF file to send back. In the cover email, I merely noted that all of the information they needed was attached.

In the past, I've noted that the complexity of such forms is inversely proportional to ever getting any work from the associated agency, so if they decide never to use me again, I've just saved myself a load of work.

Apropos of which, the carton words on the Heroes DVD box indicate that the last DVD only has one episode on it (along with a bunch of "extras" that historically interest me about as much as last year's snow), so currently, there are two episodes left to see, not five. I think I'll save this last pair for the road.

The retractable USB cable works the way it should, and after installing YASOPD (Yet Another Set Of Printer Drivers), scanning works like a champ. (If I can finish packing and cleaning early enough, I'll go scan some more old correspondence.)

So I had best get to it.

Cheers...
