I awoke this morning to see a light dusting of snow on the ground that is likely sufficient to confound anyone going up our driveway, including anyone who may need to drop us off at the train station.

Galina made a fuss about leaving for the airport on the 8:13 train, which is just as well, because my shoulder still hurts (and, I suspect, it will hurt for some time to come) and I really don't want to deal with having to tear around at Mach 3 right now.

The FCC reports that JFK is on or close to schedule for most flights.

It's a little in front of midnight, body time, as I write this, an hour earlier in civil time.

Everything went well today, even the snow stopped falling. By the time we got to the airport, it was just cold.

The flight went well, and the only hiccup upon landing was finding out that having a second driver for the rental was going to cost almost as much more as the rental itself! We canceled the Alamo car and went over to Enterprise, which does not charge extra for spouses as second drivers.

The hotel is okay, though there is no stove or any way to prepare food other than what you can stuff into a microwave. Upon arrival, I ran into Mark L. and Rita, whom I haven't seen in some time, and then a few minutes later, ran into Peter S. It was like old times all over again. I wonder what kind of mischief is being planned for the coming two weeks? (Although as for myself, I know what I'm doing for the next three days and one middle of the night.)

Natalie came over early in the evening and we went out to have a belated birthday dinner at Pappadeaux's, which is (relatively speaking) just around the corner. As usual, the portions they serve were enough to feed entire villages in some of the poorer areas of our benighted world.

Upon returning to the room, I finished checking over the two items destined for someone's desk tomorrow morning and, as I was sending them out, spied a third item I had received last Thursday (!) and promised for... tomorrow! Yikes!

Fortunately, it was a relatively short item (just under 1,000 target words) on something I can do (almost) in my sleep, so it's gone now, too. I'm going to have to work a little harder on keeping track of work, as I think this is the second close call of this kind within too recent a time.

And now, I really must hie myself between the sheets.

Cheers...
