Between the natural dustiness of the environment in our neck of the woods and the sanding, scraping, and other kinetic-energy intensive activities that've been going on around here the past few weeks, I figured it was past time to sit down and get rid of the dust in my office.

That should give you an idea of the kind of day it was.

Actually, it was a pretty good day.

In between this and that, I spent time figuring various angles on what to write for the next essay in LJ Idol, becoming reacquainted along the way with William Blake's Auguries of Innocence, which begins
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
These first four lines seem completely at odds with the rest of the poem, which covers a lot of ground with more disturbing imagery.

Which is not to say it hasn't given me all sorts of ideas.

Someone with more imagination than I (or more time, or both) could probably write something very fine using Blake's poem as a focus, but time grows short. Ever hopeful, I shall "assign" myself the task of finding a way through the brambles as I sleep tonight.

I shall have to write my essay tomorrow, or at least a good first draft.

Cheers...
