Keepin' on, keepin' on...
Mar. 20th, 2010 09:24 pmI managed to make my self-imposed 10 am deadline for submitting The Project to my east coast client, with about 10 minutes to spare.
I would have been well and truly late had I not done a Save As... before working on the file, because something went hiccup! in the middle of my review and the next thing I knew, the important bits of the TM formatting went away from the cursor to the end of the file.
Still, all's well that ends well, so I have no complaints (aside from the lack of any confirming email from my project manager, but you can't have everything in life).
I then "turned to" and managed to whip the upstairs into shape (or at least, the kitchen, dining room, and living room). I had invited the kids to come over for dinner, but hadn't heard any response by mid-afternoon, so I decided that if the kids wanted to do something today, I'd suggest we go out. Otherwise, the dinner will take place tomorrow.
In the end, it turned out we'll do dinner tomorrow night.
So, I sat down and configured my old Linksys WRT54GM router, which seems to work better than the router I bought last Black Friday because I had forgotten the Linksys unit in Houston. Doing that also allowed me to fiddle with a device called SimpleNET, which plugs into the router via a network interface and allows you to then connect up to two devices (storage, printers) via USB ports on the device.
It worked the first time I fired it up, but never again since. It was fairly easy to see the device on the WRT54GM thanks to the DD-WRT firmware replacement, and I was able to make some changes, and for now, everything works. Hopefully, nothing will change when I fire up the computers tomorrow.
Translation, cooking, laundry, trash, vacuuming, electron-pushing,... it's nice to have skills, y'know?
Do I have to tell you Galina's getting ready to come up to Colorado?
If I had a tail, it'd be wagging!
Cheers...
