Feeling like a wandering generality...
Apr. 17th, 2010 11:26 pmI got about halfway through the despeckle today, making good use of a Wordfast feature that automatically compares numbers and what are called "placeables" in the Wordfast manual (designations like 6SJ7GT). The feature also highlights strings with superscripted numbers, like cm2, as well as placeables that are translated (a "металлорукав Ду14" hose is a "DN14 metal hose"), which makes it a little slow to use, from time to time, but since it does all the heavy lifting to make sure "00.2601.9400.0120.00.0" in the source isn't "00.2601.9400.0110.00.0" in the translation, I'm not going to complain.
I don't keep track of such things, but finally got a haircut. I was probably lucky to find a place open on Saturday, as the first two tonsorial parlors I stopped at on were closed.
I forgot where I saw this, but the plume of ash from the volcanic eruption in Iceland is forecast to remain aloft for the next five days. I'm starting to think that if the phenomenon continues any longer, it will almost certainly adversely impact the start of the launch campaign I'm working, and even if it were possible to fly west to Baikonur instead of east (the place is, after all, 12 time zones away, so it shouldn't matter), the spacecraft will be arriving from the south of France, and you can't have a launch campaign without a satellite.
Gotta get up early tomorrow and finish the despeckle (or at least put the fear of Providence in the document!). 's gonna be a busy day!
Cheers...
