Back in March, I submitted a proposal for a presentation to be given at the 51st Annual Conference of the American Translators Association. I have since been informed, in the apparently geological time frame that conference organizers seem so fond of, that my session, Launch Campaign! Developing and Using Rocket and Space Terminology has been accepted.

LJ friend [livejournal.com profile] bandicoot had suggested, in a comment to my original post on the subject, that my proposal would "be even better if actual rocket launches are involved. In the auditorium."

I'll be working on it, or the next best thing.

Cheers...

A rush job - a real rush job, with a premium rate and the whole deal - popped into my inbox at around 3 pm. That was the extent of the good news.

As a result, I've just recently come back up for air, having learned (perhaps) way too much new information about how some insurance works in France.

Earlier today, while sorting through stuff, I managed to turn a spare WRT54G router into a wireless adapter, which is gratifying, as I really don't need to go out and spend more money on hardware any time soon. The fact that the router was running open source firmware called DD-WRT, which is a replacement for the standard Linksys firmware the unit comes with, really helped, since it's flexible as all get-out.

I miss having a large screen on the desktop, though. I had the television hooked up to the desktop, but the television went back to the satellite TV hookup once we returned to Pagosa from Russia, and I could not help but hook the second large (24") monitor up to the Aspire via its HDMI port, so now I've got two oversized displays on my desk (and loving it!).

Time to go wind down. And to take a new userpic for a spin.

Cheers...
