Jul. 4th, 2010 06:22 pmSo I decide to install Ubuntu 10.04 on my Acer under VMware, which works fine and eventually pops a login screen at me, whereupon it turns out I can't use my keyboard to type my password. At first, I think there's something wrong with USB support (I'm using a plug-in keyboard and mouse), but the machine's built-in keyboard doesn't work either.

In other news, books that highlight the use of popular software, such as Drupal, have a tendency to go out of date real fast. Authors of such volumes sure do have a moving target to hit!
Just the thing to make a working Sunday go easier.

ubuntu does not accept keyboard inputinto Google, and the first link returned solves my problem. It turns out there's a bug in VMware, and the page that answers my question provides detailed steps and workarounds.
