Floodgate control...

Two urgent items have come in for tonight and tomorrow morning. They are manageable, but they will get in the way of doing another 7,000 or so words of editing.

In other news, I received an over-the-transom inquiry from a company in China to perform "polish" editing of translations without sight of source text (not that it would help much, as I my ability to recognize Chinese ideograms is limited to maybe about a half dozen or so). I've returned the short test attached to the email, and also made an inquiry about the company over at the Payment Practices web site.

Late afternoon update...

I missed my "nap window" this afternoon, which means that if I try to nap right now - and I could so do that right now - I'll actually sleep for a couple of hours instead of nap and won't be able to fall asleep when I should later.

It's not as if there's nothing to do. The more urgent of the two urgent items, 2100 target words, is done and sent. I have resumed editing batch 5 of The Big Edit™ and there I have - give or take - about 2500 more words to edit for the day, although I will probably have to wrap up the editing for the day right now to deal with the other item due first thing tomorrow.

(That's because the other item - an uncomplicated-looking Excel spreadsheet - looked small when I downloaded it, but it actually weighs in with a word count of over 2,200 source words, which is not something one can knock off in half an hour, so... it's back to the face of the mine for me!)
